Coach Mike Hibbs

Coach Hibbs has been coaching for the past 27 years and this is his third year as the head coach of Good Counsel. He coached at Loyola Blakefield, of the Baltimore Catholic League, and previously served twelve years as the Varsity Boys’ Basketball Coach at The Bullis School and eight years prior with legendary Hall of Fame Coach Morgan Wootten at DeMatha High School. He built a competitive program at The Bullis School, which became the perennial favorite in the league after his first three years. The Washington Post ranked the Bulldogs for the first time in Bullis history during the 1994-95 season. In 1996 Bullis captured its first IAC title in 8 years with an undefeated conference record, and was ranked # 3 in the final Washington Post poll. Coach Hibbs also guided his team to IAC Championships in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2003, while taking second place honors in 1998 and 2000. He was named IAC Coach of the Year each of the years his teams won the conference title as well as Montgomery Gazette and Journal Coach of the Year twice. He was also selected to coach the Capital All-Stars in the 1997 Capital Classic, currently the Michael Jordan All-Star game. Coach Hibbs has also lectured at many of the best camps and clinics on the east coast including the prestigious D.C. Basketball Coaches’ Clinic.
